Where does the arc come from on a Yamaha TV?

A possibility is to use an optical digital audio cable to the Yamaha (from the TV). I’ve spent several hrs. funging with the Samsung and the RX-V577 receiver. The “Input” selector for the receiver does not seem to list ARC anywhere, or anywhere to indicate that the audio input should be coming over the “HDMI Output” HDMI jack.

On some receivers the “B” channel only works with analog, so if you accidentally turn on “A” *and* “B”, you get no sound. (Or, maybe you just turned “A” off and only have “B”.)
