Press and hold Pure direct and Zone 2 buttons and while holding them down, power on the unit. The display is now supposed to flash and the unit to set to factory settings, but it just does not happen, My display simple goes back to what it was earlier.

Can a Denon AVR 1400 work without HDMI?
ARC cannot function without HDMI Control. ARC is a subset feature of HDMI CEC and cannot function without it. There’s no point or purpose to leaving ARC on if HDMI Control is turned off. Denon and Marantz models are the only ones to include this feature and the ability to turn the auto switching off.
